Retirement is imminent

This blog is not really about retirement but more about my venturing into the second (or third, or fourth) part of my life and journaling what is happening.
I am a math teacher who will be retiring in June of this year. I have been in school since I was 5 years old. This will be a major change for me. I have loved teaching, but it is time to move on.
Along with retirement, I will be moving from the suburbs of Chicago to Salt Lake City, Utah. My wife has been living and working there for the past 2.5 years and we are anxious to be together again. I am happy with the decision to move to Utah, but have some reservations. I guess that is normal. The big reservation is our 24 year old son, who lives at home. I will have a very difficult time being so far away from him.
I try to be very active and I think SLC will be good for that. I like to bike, hike, golf, read, travel, play guitar and piano.
Whether I work or not after I move out there depends on if I can find a job that doesn't require evenings or weekends. I want to be free to move around and travel to bike rides and vacations without dealing with work.
